A Perspective:  We Are Not Black, Colored, or Negro

CommunityA Perspective:  We Are Not Black, Colored, or Negro

Written by Drew Keaton El

First and foremost I’d like to give honors and praise to the Profit Noble Drew Ali founder of the Moorish Science Temple of America in 1913(ad) in Newark, New Jersey, initially incorporated on November 29, 1926, he let us know that the purpose and objective were to uplift humanity and to teach things necessary to make the members better citizens.

The organization started as a Civic organization and went through various changes; by July 20, 1928, it was established as the first Islamic organization in America.

Noble Drew Ali let us know in act 6 of the circle 7 Koran of the divine constitution and bylaws that All members must proclaim their Nationality and divine Creed, two core major teachings in the Moorish Science Temple of America.

In my teachings, I was taught that we are not black, colored, or negro, for those names have been given to us by slaveholders from 1779 to 1865 during slavery. We are taught that we must recognize our free National name to be recognized by the nation they live in and nations of the earth.

I get in conversions with people all the time when I say I’m not “Black, negro or colored” and most will say I’m not Negro but I’m Black but in actuality Negro in Spanish means black, in terms in Latin and Greek necro it literally means “dead”, black according to Science means death, you don’t have to take my word for it or the Profit Noble Drew Ali if you get a good etymological dictionary it will trace the word black to its origin.

There are social implications to the word ” black & Negro”, there are Spiritual implications, and most important legal implications to the word “Black” for those not buying anything.

I’m saying look up the William Dungy case in 1855 where he took his brother-inlaw to court for slander because he called him a negro.

It’s very unfortunate studying in the Moorish Science Temple that we have been tricked out our birthright, labeled, and defined and we do nothing about making the correction.

Moorish America is an identity; it’s my Nationality, my word instead of “black” Moor was used to identify people of African descent.

Spiritually speaking, it should matter; most people will say “it doesn’t matter what I call myself I can call myself” the Dungy case was just an example of technicality what “rights do you have?” We don’t have God-given rights; we have been granted privileges that can be taken away in a heartbeat, we think we are free but we’re not.

In closing, spiritually implications on how we identify ourselves are of Science and a universal guide to self; if we keep denying this, then you are outside of the plight of our ancestors in knowing and the power you have THE POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD, we speak things into existence these others words put spells on our minds and don’t allow us to be great and dead to the knowledge of ourselves.
