This is the second book in the Ashanti Princess and Prince book series. The purpose of this book series is to:
1. Emphasize the importance of diverse representation in children’s books;
2. Introduce young girls and boys of diverse backgrounds to stories that allow them to relate to the characters;
3. Encourage children to learn about their family history and cultural heritage;
4. Empower children to develop self-confidence and a sense of pride in their diverse family backgrounds; and
5. Inspire all readers to develop an interest in learning more about African history and culture.
About the Author
Crystal Boateng was born and raised in Ghana. She moved to Massachusetts at a young age with her family. She is a proud alumna of Mount Holyoke College and holds a law degree and MBA from the University of Connecticut.
Crystal is married with three children who are her inspiration for all the books she has written. Her first children’s picture book, Afia the Ashanti Princess: A Visit to the Motherland, was an Amazon bestseller in 3 different categories when it was released in December 2020. Since then, Crystal has published three other books including, Afia the Brave Swimmer: Seaside Adventures in Ghana, Saturday Morning Cuddles with Mommy, and a coloring/activity companion book.
Her hope is to inspire readers to develop an interest in further learning more about Ghanaian culture and history through her Ashanti Princess book series. Crystal recently launched a publishing company, Boat & Co. Publishing Agency, to help other individuals just like herself become published authors.
