Are Black People the True Children of the Gods? Unpacking the Erasure of African History and Spirituality

For centuries, Black people have been at the center of an ongoing struggle for identity, history, and divinity. While modern society often portrays African descendants as the marginalized, the lost, and the struggling, there exists a deeper, more profound question: Could Black people be the original children of the gods? And if so, does that explain why European and American systems have worked so tirelessly to erase African history, culture, and spirituality?

City Councilor Tracye Whitfield Calls for Progressive Efforts to Combat Gun Violence in Springfield

Local NewsCity Councilor Tracye Whitfield Calls for Progressive Efforts to Combat Gun Violence in Springfield

City Councilor Tracye Whitfield issued a statement stating Gun Violence in the City of Springfield is a major public health problem.  More state and local funding and resources along with evidence based and innovative solutions are needed to combat this local epidemic.

Springfield needs a comprehensive plan in place to combat gun violence. The city needs a think tank for gun violence elimination similar to the Hampden County Addiction Task Force that collaborates monthly to combat the opioid addiction. A think tank that brings together leaders and organizations throughout the Commonwealth, in addition to, individuals directly impacted by the said violence.

Getting guns off the streets, arresting repeat violent offenders and increasing bail to keep these repeat offenders incarcerated longer are good solutions but as we can see, alone, they are just not working.

“I call for real collaborative solutions, funding and support from our congressional leaders, the Governor, the Mayor’s Office, the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office, the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, state and local officials and other local agencies to supply housing, education and workforce development, mental health and trauma informed care, physical healthcare, food, transportation, childcare, job opportunities etc to those involved and most impacted by gun violence.” states City Councilor Whitfield

“In addition, we need to ensure the families, friends and communities most impacted by this issue have a seat at the table, their voices are heard and their innovative ideas implemented.  No decision should be made about us without us!” she furthers.

The Gun Violence Elimination Alliance (G.V.E.A.) is ready and willing to spearhead this initiative but cannot do it without funding and partnerships.

“Our federal, state and city legislators need to step up and make eliminating gun violence more of a priority in 2022! For the love of Springfield, I strongly urge you to come together with the community and do more to save these young lives! They Matter!” says Councilor Whitfield
