So in an attempt to fight past wrongs and show equity, we should dismantle law enforcement structures, Allow criminals to walk free, be released without bail, and not charge certain crimes. In what world would you let that abused child not be held accountable in your house?
In all my own child’s pain, certain things would still not be tolerated or condoned, even with all my love for him, even if I understood the whys of the actions. I would still hold him accountable.
The system doesn’t have the father’s love I expressed. So why are they not holding people accountable? What happens when people don’t have consequences for their actions, especially when they’ve been treated unfairly?
How I have repaired the damage of dealing with traumatized children is by showing fair and just consequences framed within a structure that is a proper response to that action, taking account of the pain but not excusing their actions, in contrast to the unjust treatment previously given. Not no consequence at all.
We are at a point in history where as of January 1 in Illinois, crimes such as kidnapping, aggravated assault, and murder in the 2nd degree won’t carry bail, and they’ll be back out on the street after an arrest. In what world does that make sense, and what message do you send the criminal? To law enforcement. To children.
People crossing the border aren’t vetted for their criminal status or intent, or even for Covid 19, as well as people from other countries; even people on no-fly and terrorist lists are flying to South and Central America and crossing the border as well. Ask yourself why DAs aren’t concerned with the prosecution of criminals.
Why do politicians want millions of new people in overcrowded schools, strapped social service agencies, and transitional assistance when we can’t take care of millions here? Ask yourself why. Ask yourself if it makes sense. At what point do we begin to punish law-abiding citizens with 87,000 IRS agents, new gun laws, and government restrictions – and reward people breaking the law?
